URBAN PAPER PROJECT (2001-2004) - In 2001 I lived in East Village during the 9/11 attack.  On TV we were told that we were attacked because of our excess.  Having just moved to NYC weeks before, I wanted to explore where I lived while also investigating if we can be identified by our excess.  I walked around many of the neighborhoods of Manhattan, wearing latex gloves and picking up trash that I saw in repetition in each particular neighborhood.  I then brought it home and made handpressed paper out it.
